We are seeking to fill the Director of Golf Course Maintenance role at Gleneagles Country Club which was named one of DFW’s best country clubs in 2019 by Avid Golfer, in Plano, Texas, and boasts two championship 18-hole golf courses designed by legendary course planners Robert Von Hagge and Bruce Devlin along with a 300 yard double-sided driving range, putting  greens and a large short game practice area. The Director of Golf Course Maintenance will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the AG Plan, Budget, Capital Projects, Employee Partner retention, hiring, training, record keeping, cultural practices, communication with leadership team as well as membership, striving each day to make club better than the day before.  Have knowledge of Audubon Certification program and needs to keep this moving forward.

  • Oversee and directs all operations of the golf course maintenance department and facilities grounds. This includes budgeting and forecasting per company policies and timelines.

  • Plan and implement staffing schedules to ensure quality standards are achieved with high efficiency.
  • Develops the Annual AG Plan and operating plan with club GM and Regional Director of Agronomy.  Implements the plan to ensure cost containment.

  • Ensures all standards are being followed, including but not limited to:  equipment repairs, equipment storage, chemical and fertilizer storage and records, washing areas, restrooms, etc., to include cleanliness.

  • Supervise and lead course construction and renovation projects

  • Works closely with Director of Golf as well as General Manager to provide top notch conditions as possible each and every day for our members.

  • Ensures compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, OSHA rules and regulations, all rules and regulations relating to chemical and fertilizer applications, storage, and disposal, employee safety, public safety, etc.

  • Management of Employee Partner activities for golf course maintenance team including but not limited to personnel recruitment, training, performance evaluations, discipline and termination, etc.

  • Maintain accurate records pertaining to departmental activities including, but not limited to: labor schedules, course maintenance programs and activities, construction activities, equipment inventory and repairs, safety meetings and activities, fertilizer & chemical applications and pest control practices.

  • Maintain necessary inventories, purchase necessary items while keeping mindful of the maintenance budget.

  • Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.

  • Ensure that application equipment is calibrated properly along with overseeing or making fertilizer and pesticide applications as necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    A.        Provide friendly customer service and respond to member concerns;

    B.         Properly check in golfers, control tee times, including walk-ups and pairings, and collecting guest fees;

    C.         Maintain orderly outside services (i.e., staging areas, range and golf cart storage); and

    D.        Ensure that Three Steps of Service are followed by all Staff:

    i.          Warm welcomes – greeting members and guests in a professional manner upon check-in;

    ii.         Magic moments – creating the more memorable experiences for members and guests during their visits; and

    iii.        Fond farewells – sending the members and guests off with a positive experience.

  3. Ensure all company policies, standards of operations, manuals, standards of conduct, safety rules, and policies against harassment are strictly followed by all staff and member/guests (including prompt intervention, investigation and documentation). 

  4. Conduct performance evaluations of Golf, Pro Shop, and Outside Services Staff on a timely basis, provide appropriate feedback to staff, and recommendations to Senior Management regarding compensation, advancement, and training needs.

  5. Determine appropriate personnel action (counseling, written warnings, suspension or termination) in the event of performance, attendance problems or violations of company policies; coordinate with Human Resources, Legal, and Senior Management as necessary.

  6. Assign and develop work-efficient schedules to meet staffing needs of Golf Operations, Pro Shop, Outside Services, and Club’s repair business, and as warranted, recruit and hire staff to provide superior level of member services.

  7. Profit/Loss responsibility for merchandise in Pro Shop; assist with budgeting; plan and maintain inventory levels; implement inventory control and counting procedures for staff to follow to ensure constantly stocked items; establish standards for merchandise display, pricing and promotions to be followed by golf shop attendants to encourage sales; and address member orders.

  8. Develop and ensure that operational standards are followed by Golf and Outside Services Staff regarding staging areas, driving range, and golf cart storage.

  9. Develop relationships with members to promote golf activities.

  10. Immediately address and resolve member/guest complaints.

  11. Effective communication with staff, members and Senior Management.

  12. Ability to work well under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks, and attention to details.

  13. Ensure that all direct reports adhere to ClubCorp standards regarding dress code.

  14. In the event of the Director of Golf/Head Golf Professional’s absence, supervise and manage all aspects of Club’s Golf department. 

  15. Be informed of and promote all Club activities and services, including selling and managing tournaments, and other special events (scheduling, directing and utilizing staff to perform necessary functions to provide successful tournaments and special events).

  16. Direct and guide staff, according to ClubCorp and PGA Standards to promote golf clinics, private lessons, and adult, junior and senior programs, and provide assistance, as necessary, to ensure member satisfaction and that Club Standards are met. Also have the ability to teach and provide instruction.

  17. Organize and promote all Club Tournaments and other special events/functions at the Club. Manage the handicap program.

     

  18. Develop relationships with Members by participating in events and one on one, including playing golf, as needed for player development.

     

  19. Manage the pro-shop, outside services, including practice facility, and all golf operations.
