Belmont Country Club, a golf & country club in the ClubCorp family that
provides golf along with other fantastic amenities to Members in Ashburn, VA is
seeking a Golf Course Superintendent. Belmont Country Club is home to an 18-hole
Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, which was nominated for the Best New
Private Golf Course Award by Golf Digest in its inaugural year. The course
measures 7.212 yards from the back tees, has natural elevation changes,
tree-lined fairways and a vast amount of wetland hazards.
Belmont Country Club is
probably most famous for its PennG-2 green complexes. Penn G-2 Bentgrass is
known for its true putting surface and consistent fast speeds.
The
Golf Course Superintendent (GCS) is responsible for the successful operation of
the Golf Course Maintenance Department and Clubhouse Grounds Maintenance. The
GCS works closely with the General Manager on capital improvement expansion
projects, as well as interaction with the Head Golf Professional to maximize
the number of rounds of golf played by scheduling maintenance practices around
Member play and outings to maximize efficiency is essential. The GCS is expected to be a visible
presence among team and members with exceptionally strong agronomic, business
and communication skills. He/she is responsible for maintenance, operation,
management, preparation, and condition of the golf courses and grounds.
The GCS must be an excellent, transparent communicator with a natural style of
“sincere engagement” with both the management team and members. He/she will
have an extensive agronomy knowledge and know how. Continuing education,
professional development, strong peer group relations and staying at the
forefront of research and technology are necessary for success.
Responsibilities
- Provides
agronomic direction to maintain the golf course at the highest quality
possible at all times
- Follows
company standards for the healthy growth of the golf course grasses,
trees, wetlands, and other applicable plant materials
- Programs
for turf/grass, material and chemical maintenance, and asset management
are critical to the success of this role
- Prepares
an annual budget and achieves these financial goals throughout the year,
through proper forecasting, expense controls and labor management
- Responsible
for hiring, training and developing all staff
- Ensures
staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines
for safe working conditions.
Ideal

organized and have a hands on leadership style. They will possess strong
written and verbal communication skills and have history of excellent
team relations.
Job Requirements
– Degree in turf management or related field of study is required
– GCSAA Certification preferred
– Pesticide Certification preferred
– Experience managing bentgrass greens, fairways and tees in Mid-Atlantic region or similar climate
– Familiar with managing roughs in the transition zone
– Solid irrigation management philosophy & practices
– Strong agronomic skills-stays current with advances in turf technology & equipment
– Strong budget management & forecasting (zero based) skills
– Experience developing capital equipment replacement plans
– Advanced knowledge of regulatory requirements and recordkeeping as required by local, state and federal laws
– Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with Members, Employee Partners and guests
– Bilingual (English
– Spanish) communication ability preferred
