Private Event Sales Manager

Situated on the outskirts of Akron, Ohio, Firestone Country Club has some of the finest 54 holes of golf in the country. Couple challenging courses with luxurious overnight stays, friendly and professional staff, and outstanding cuisine to create the ultimate experience for friends, guests, or business associates. The Firestone team is actively seeking to bring on a Private Event Sales Manager. The Private Event Sales Manager is responsible for the selling, planning, and coordinating of all aspects of private events and meeting functions held within the Club. Ideal candidates will have extensive knowledge of catering sales in a variety of market segments including, new business development, account management, space utilization and maximization, menu development, wine and beverage sales, and history of upselling success. The Private Event Sales Manager is responsible to assist in preparing a quarterly game plan for their assigned market segment and is responsible for achieving their budgeted sales plan. The Private Event Sales Manager fosters relationships with Members, individuals, and corporations who book events to maintain a catalog of repeat business while prospecting for new events.

Responsibilities:

  • Solicit, book, plan, and coordinate meetings/functions while maximizing the banquet space to meet/exceed sales goals
  • Identify new and repeat bookings through pursuit efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, etc.) while maximizing banquet space to meet/exceed revenue goals
  • Networking inside and outside the Club to obtain "leads" and build relationships with new and existing clients
  • Complete the contracts, prepare the appropriate paperwork, coordinate with the appropriate areas in the Club, and resolve any issues, complaints, or problems to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Prepare status and month-end reports to keep management abreast of activities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Club procedures and products; the competition's product, strengths, and weaknesses to continually improve sales strategies and the achievement of goals 
  • Participate in community and professional organizations to maintain high visibility and promote sales
  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned 
  • Recommend program and procedural changes 
  • Contribute to the creation of sales and marketing plan to achieve individual and departmental revenue goals
  • Provide accurate forecasting of private event sales to properly execute the Club’s business plan
  • Ensure all services administered to Club Members and their guests are consistent with expected level of service
  • Attendance at all required Food and Beverage Meetings, Employee Partner Meetings, and Department Head Meetings scheduled both within the club and outside the club
  • Work with the Executive Chef and Food and Beverage Director to establish profitable and competitive private event menus that meet clients’ needs
  • Professional appearance maintained by self and all private event personnel
  • Work closely with the Membership Department in obtaining information on new Members and their needs through New Member telephone calls
  • Participate in New Member Connect and 12-month Retention Strategy programs

Job Requirements

:
- Experience as a Catering Sales/Private Events Director within fine dining or upscale private dining establishment (preferred)
- Solid understanding of banquet revenue generation
- Proven track record of sales performance along with marketing/prospecting programs that drive event revenue
- Ability to investigate and analyze current activities and/or information involving readily available data and indicating logical conclusions and recommendations
- Communication skills in terms of the ability to negotiate, convince, sell, and influence professionals and/or Members/guests
- Proven ability in leadership
- Creative menu development skills
- High energy and outgoing personality
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Word, and Excel
- Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with Members, Employee Partners, and guests
